Depends on what you want to use it for. If less than 4 people and no server required then I like Skype...

If team chat most use either Ventrilo or Team Speak. I know that TS is a free download but someone is picking up the cost of the maintaining the server. Don't know how well Vent is or how it works though.

ts is easier, yet less quality
just download the client, someone downloads the server, sets it up, gives ip, and voila, you're done

ventrilo is better imo..better quality

you can go on free vent servers : gw-vent.com port : 1337 is a big pvp server ( sissyboys vent )

TS or Vent for PvP

Skype for friend play and chat...4 or less...I get some lag when I have 3 + on it.

Just have both installed, especially when you join PUG in Tombs alot. They'll say they have eithera TS or a Ventrilo server, and you should have both installed, so you always got what they want you to have.

I'd say TS is a bit more proffesional, and is alot easier to use, since you won't have many problems because it's so easy to configure, so if you'd have to choose for your guild, you should pick TS in my opinion, that way you probably have less problems with guild members that can't talk/hear anything.

I find Vent has a better quality than TS, but it depends on the way the server codecs are setup.
Vent is more popular, but the TS interface is just funky. I mean, blue.

But yeah. I recommend Vent.

I think Ventrilo is the best chat program. Here are the reasons.

1. Good sound, it is easy to hear what other people say.

2. Does not take much net-power, even people with bad net can use it easy.

3. It is free and very easy to use and setup.

Get it at www.ventrilo.com and get it now.

IMO, Vent is the best hands down. Simply the sound is amazing...I can aucally hear people that don't sound muffled! TS, on the other hand, is good too, but you really can't hear what people are saying some of the time.

But either way you look at it, TS and Vent are the most used. Honorable mentions goes out to Xfire as well for that in-game chat menu...pretty cool!

/signed except point 3. TS wins from Vent there.

They're both easy to use. I prefer vent though as most people I know use it.

Vent is The Best Team Chating Program IMO.

Easy To Use + Set Up
and you can save the IP's youve been where so no need to type everytime like TS

umm, u can bookmark servers in teamspeak. The quality in ts depends on the codec. Having used teamspeak for so long, I find it much easier to use than ventrilo, especially if you are an administrator. but thats my opinion.

Vent is definitely more convinient, you dont have to keep typing in the servers, and it takes up less processing power and internet bandwith, so less chance of lag.

i perfer TS to vent as i find TS easier to use and quicker to set up. ive used VENT and ya it has better quailty but i get the same job done w/ TS so i go w/ TS when possible. also anyone know how much a ts server cost?

teamspeak can be hoasted out of your own home. our guilds TS server is hosted on my friends computer. he has a p4 2.5 ish proceser and a DSL connection. the codecs are set up in such a way that he does not have lag problems yet are still clear enough to understand without dificulity. it was not too hard to set the system up but i might be biased in that ocupation he and I are in. i have no experence with hoasting Vent but i have used it in the odd tombs match, i have alwayse found it to be a worse quality then TS but that is just me.
